Azienda Agricola Casale (Giglioli & Rinaldi) - Chianti Riserva 1999

There are so many "Casale" labels in Tuscany that it becomes very easy to confuse one producer with another. This "Casale" is the one belonging to Giglioli and Rinaldi - Viticoltori dal 1770 and the estate is located in Certaldo (just north of Poggibonsi, outside the Chianti Classico borders). The estate is certified as biodynamic and produces also high quality olive oil and vinegar.

Many experts hold this estate in high regard, as a little (and pretty unknown) gem able to compete against producers of the calibre of Montevertine. For sure these wines burst with the authenticity, vibrancy and purity that only the best sangiovese can reach.

Tasting Notes (4.6/5)
This Chianti Riserva 1999 appears medium ruby with garnet rim and good tears. On the nose it's still very much lively offering notes of violets, cherries and hedgerow fruits, chestnuts, tobacco and tea leaves, mineral/haematic hints.
On the palate is dry, med+ acidity, medium tannins,  medium alcohol+, med+ body, with supple and elegant midpalate and a med+ finish. Remarkable purity of fruit.
Outstanding quality. Premium Price. It is approachable now but it has still tension and sheer vibrancy to keep evolving for several years ahead. Mainly Sangiovese with some Canaiolo & Colorino, Chianti, Tuscany, Italy.
