Benanti il Monovitigno Nerello Mascalese 2009 (4.3/5)

Benanti, historical producer from Mount Etna (Sicily), decide to offer on the market a Nerello Mascalese in purezza. Usually a very tannic variety. Here the wine is perfectly tamed by an accurate fine-tuned, yet artisanal, winemaking and ageing.

Tasting Notes: It appears medium ruby garnet with good tears. On the nose it's clean offering, with medium intensity, notes of ripe red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, hearth and ashes, some bitter cocoa and liquorice on the end.

On the palate is dry, with good acidity giving a great backbone and structure together with the med+ tannins. Medium+ alcohol, Medium+ body with good finish. A mineral verve as well.

Very Good quality, Approachable Now but can further gain complexity, Premium Price. 100% old vines Nerello Mascalese, Etna, Sicily, Italy.
