Azienda Agricola Casale (Giglioli & Rinaldi) Trebbiano ORANGE 2004 (4.8/5)

Italy is well renowned for producing among the best Orange Wines in the world. And this Tuscan example is not disappointing the expectations.

It is made with Trebbiano grapes fermented for 30 days on their skins (Orange Wine method). Then aged for 7 years in old chestnut barrels.

Just to have a laugh imagine to perform the following gedankenexperiment: take a sweet  Hungarian Tokaji, remove any sugar, mix it with some barrel-aged apple cider. You will get this Orange wine.

Few (more serious) notes:
It appears deep gold with amber tints, some good tears. On the nose it's clean offering ever-evolving notes of blossoms, apple cider, quince and dried apricots, roses petals, nuts and vanilla. Very layered. On the palate is dry, with balanced acidity, medium alcohol, medium tannins giving a very pleasant grippy sensation on the mid-palate, medium+ body with very good concentration of flavours and a Med+ finish. Simply Gorgeous.
Outstanding quality, Drink Now or hold, Premium Price. 100% Trebbiano, Tuscany, Italy.
