Azienda Agricola Casale (Giglioli & Rinaldi) Chianti 2010 (4.4/5)

Notes: There are so many "Casale" bottling in Tuscany that it becomes very easy to confuse one producer with another. This "Casale" is belonging to Giglioli and Rinaldi - Viticoltori dal 1770 and the estate is located in Certaldo (just north of Poggibonsi, outside the Chianti Classico borders). The estate is certified as biodynamic and produces also high quality oil and vinegar.

Many experts hold this estate in high regard, as a little (and pretty unknown) gem able to compete against producers such as Montevertine.

This Chianti 2010 appears deep ruby with good tears. On the nose offers pronounced notes of  wild tart cherries and hedgerow fruits, fresh violets, mineral nots of iron, liquorice and tar on the finish.
On the palate is dry, med+ acidity, med+ tannins,  medium alcohol, med+ body, with fleshy and succulent midpalate showing a pure expression of fruit.  Medium+ finish. It as serious stature for not being a "Riserva".
Very good quality. Premium Price. It can be approachable now but it has the backbone for keeping several years. Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino, Chainti, Tuscany, Italy.
