Quinta de Macedos Tasting

Pinga do Torto 2007 (4.3/5)

It's their entry level wine. Med+ purple with good legs. On the nose it's clean with med+ notes of black fruits, floral and Mediterranean herbs, roasted black olives, some cocoa powder and spices from a clever and judicious use of barrique not hiding the intense mineral verve of the wine. Great expression of terroir through a fresh and vibrant wine.
On the palate is dry, with med+ acidity, medium dusty tannins, med+ alcohol alcohol, med+ body, and med+ finish. Great food companion.
Very Good quality, It can be drunk now but will keep 5+ years, High Price, Blend of old and young vines of Touriga Nacional & Co,  Douro, Portugal.

Quinta de Macedos 2005 (4.8/5)

It's their top level wine. Deep red/purple with very good legs. On the nose it's clean with med+ notes of black fruits, cigar box and cocoa, spices, incense, garrigue  and a great mineral backbone. Again another terroir-driven wine.
On the palate is dry, with med+ acidity, med+ tannins, med+ alcohol alcohol, med+ to full body, and long finish. Intense and pure mid palate is knitted on a beautiful tannic structure.
Oustanding quality, It can be drunk now but will keep and develop up to 10 years, Premium Price, Blend of old vines of Touriga Nacional & Co,  Douro, Portugal
