L'Infernal Aguilera Viñas Viejas 2008 (4.7/5)

It comes from old vines grown on brown slate soil.  Aged 12 months in large french oak barrels.

It appears deep purple with very good legs. On the nose it's clean offering, with med+ intensity, notes of wild damson, blackberries, violets, liquorice, yeasty hints of stone-baked bread crust, minerals and some garrigue.

On the palate is dry, with balanced med+ acidity, medium+ (surprisingly round) tannins, high alcohol, medium+ body with  very good concentration and freshness on the mid-palate together with savoury minerality supporting a Med+ finish. Very elegant, yet deep and intriguing.

Outstanding quality, Approachable Now but will develop for several years and keep for a decade. Premium Price,  100% Cariñena, Torroja del Priorat, Spain.
