Lillian Syrah California 2010 (4.1/5)

It appears opaque purple with very good slow tears. On the nose it's clean, med+ intensity, blackberries and blueberries coulis, cedar, asian spices and smoky notes from barrel.

On the palate is dry, with medium acidity, medium+ (velvety) tannins, high alcohol, medium+ body with very  good concentration of flavors. Med+ finish.

The wine is big and extracted, however the very high alcohol is well hidden most likely by an important presence of well integrated polysaccharides that complement the tannic frame as well. As a result, this huge syrah is very quaffable and lush and, to certain extent, is not so overwhelming on food.

Very Good quality, Drink Now but may improve with few years of cellaring. Premium Price, 100 % Syrah, Santa Barbara County, California, USA.

P.S. The back label (see below) reports "produced and bottled by Lillian in Oregon Dundee". This is kind of awkward for such premium wine...honestly who cares where the winery is located...we care where the grapes come from... you know Terroir blah blah blah....the label just says "California Syrah"...why not adding the vineyards used for this blend (you need to go on Lillian website to discover the vineyards are  Bien Nacido, White Hawk and Stolpman, located in Santa Barbara County).
