Cheval des Andes Mendoza 2008 (3.6/5)
Notes: It appears med+ to deep ruby purple, with very good legs. On the nose it's clean and offers, with med+ intensity, fruity notes of blackberries, black cherries, violets, some hint of spices, cedar, vanilla, green leaves as well. On the palate is dry, with med acidity, fine but disjoint tannic structure (it's like a sirupy sweet a-tannic black fruits layer floats on top of a finely grained oak tannins layer), medium+ alcohol, med+ to full body, very good flavour intensity and concentration and persistent finish, but just don't think this will come together with cellaring.
Good quality. It is approachable Now but may improve with few years in bottle and keep for another 5 years. Premium Price (I've bought much more glorious previous recent vintages for 2/3 of the price of 2008 bottle: quality went down, prices went up??), 55% Malbec, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, Mendoza, Argentina.
