Arianna Occhipinti Siccagno Nero d'Avola 2011 (4.3/5)

Notes: It appears med+ ruby with good legs. On the nose it's clean and perfumed in a feminine way with cherries, and ripe raspberry and boysenberry, some leather and dusty earthy and iodine notes. On the palate is dry, with med+ acidity, med+ tannins (very silky), med alcohol, med+ body. There is great delicacy yet firmness, an unusual kind of beauty for what you would expect from Nero d'Avola. I think if Les Amoureuses in Chambolle-Musigny was able to ripen Nero d'Avola, it would give a wine similar to this! Definitely you can feel the vineyard heritage here, and the work done in the cellar is minimal and remain behind the fruit expression on the stage.
