Oasi degli Angeli Kurni 2008 (3.4/5)
Notes: It appears deep black/purple, glass-coating inky with high viscosity. On the nose it's clean offering intense notes of ripe red and black fruits, figs paste, chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, spices, dried rose petals, mushrooms. A cornucopia! On the palate is sickly sweet, cloying, and although acidity and tannins (especially coming from the 200% new oak treatment) are well present, the wine is very unbalanced and I found it impossible to drink more than one glass. The very high alcohol is well embedded in the super rich thick mid palate. Full body with long finish.
Of course was impossible to match this with any food. "Vino da meditazione" as they say in Italy (Indeed one of the most horrendous words adopted in the world of wine). Extreme and without sense of place. Drink Now or hold 10+ years, Premium Price (Cult Wine). 100% Montepulciano grapes. IGT Marche, Italy.
