Notes: Ok...ok...This would put to shame the bulliest of Cali Zins! It appears deep ruby red with port-like viscosity. On the nose it's clean offering intense notes of red/black cherries liquor, spices and toasted coffee, cedar, cocoa powder, garrigue and chalky hints. On the palate is dry, with  med+ acidity, med+ smooth tannins, extreme alcohol (16.5%), full body but still sleek not cloying. Very high flavor intensity and long finish.
Another extreme "Vino da Meditazione" from Italy. Contrary to the Kurni, this is at least kind of balanced (apparently they even avoid malolactic to preserve acidity). However, like Kurni, it's very difficult to match with food, and very difficult to gulp down more than one glass.
Does this represent a good vector to express Primitivo di Manduria grape and its terroir? I will let the reader answer this question for himself.
Good quality, Drink Now but will improve, Premium Price. Primitivo di Manduria. Puglia, Italy.
