Castellinuzza e Piuca Chianti Classico Riserva 2010 (4.5/5)

Notes: It appears medium to deep ruby with good tears. On the nose it's clean offering med+ intensity of cherries and currants, floral violets, orange zest, mineral notes, unsmoked tobacco leaves and hay, hint of black spices. Not easy to explain but it tastes like Sangiovese from Chianti Classico should taste. Great elegance without make-up from barrique (Oh! what a killer the barrique in Chianti! What a stupidity! How easy to ruin the great elegance of these wines! Using the barrique with Sangiovese in chianti is like to put make-up on the face of La Venere di Botticelli.). On the palate is dry, with med- tannins (the vintage was not one of the best for phenolic maturation), balanced med+ acidity, medium alcohol, med to med+ body with very good concentrated mid palate and great flavor intensity. Med+ finish.
Very Good quality, a great example of Terroir Wine! Bravo! And what a terroir the hill of Lamole, very few hectares, very few producers, probably the best and most expressive terroir in Chianti.   Drink Now or hold 5+ years, High Price but very good Q.P.R.  90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, Greve in Chainti, Tuscany, Italy.
