Nicolas Catena Zapata 2007 (4.8/5)
Notes: It appears deep inky black with purple rim, high viscosity. On the nose it's clean offering intense aromas of black cherries, blackberries compote, spices, chocolate and leather, alpine herbs and flowers. Very layered and complex, still developing. On the palate is dry, with balanced medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, full body with unbelievably concentrated mid palate and teeth-staining abundant but velvety tannins. Long finish, with old world finesse. This red was barrel fermented and this results in a seamless oak integration.
