Ca' Marcanda (Gaja) Magari Toscana IGT 2011 (3.7/5)

Notes: Deep purple with good viscosity. The nose is clean and offers a med+ intensity of ripe plums, toast, vanilla, black cherries, coffee beans chocolate and spices. The good amount of oak is not greatly matched by fruit concentration, and this is a deficiency that is quite common in "second wines" coming from outstanding producers (a trend that has gone far beyond Bordeaux boundaries and that at this price tags is quite annoying for the discerning consumers).
On the palate is dry, with med+ to high acidity, medium+ tannins, med+ alcohol, med+ body and med+ flavor intensity and finish.
Good quality, Drink Now but probably will come better together along the next decade or so. Premium Price. Blend 50-25-25 Merlot, Cab. Sauvignon, Cab. Franc. Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy.
